Everyone knows that we LOVE a good Christmas party at Truly, who doesn’t? The chance to hang out and do something other than create brilliant work for our clients isn’t an opportunity we tend to pass on and 2023 was no exception!

What Did We Do?

We headed over to Bedford Street Bar in Leamington Spa, where we were welcomed into a space just for us, complete with a velvet rope and some lovely Christmas decorations. Some of us took the arrival time as more of a suggestion but being fashionably late never goes out of style, so we can let that slide. As more and more of us filtered through, drinks were poured and laughs were shared until we got to everyone’s favourite part of our Christmas party – the awards! But we’ll get to those later!

The team at Bedford Street didn’t just provide us with drinks, they also put on a lovely spread for everyone to enjoy. With too many types of cheese to count (we wouldn’t have it any other way), crudités, meats and more, there was something for everyone! This included a special vegan spread for those who otherwise would have been snacking on carrot sticks for the entire night. We never see our colleagues move quicker than when cheese is offered to them, which is what Christmas is all about, right?

The Awards

At every Truly Christmas party, we celebrate our wonderful colleagues. 2023 has been a challenging year but we’ve still had our share of fun along the way. We don’t tell you who won everything because quite honestly, we’re not sure you want to know. But if anyone’s wondering, Tyler, our Head of Quality Control, was voted most likely to marry a millionaire because we don’t know how else he’s going to afford so many gig tickets! Tom (Smithy), one of our designers, is always keen to grab a bite to eat and it’s even better if it’s free, so naturally, he won ‘Most Likely To Steal Your Food’. Our Head of Design, Dave, was voted ‘Most Likely To Brighten Up Your Day’ and if you’ve met him, you’d know why!

After this, we moved on to the big awards – Colleague Of The Year and Employee Of The Year, which were won by Aaron, the Head of Digital, and Dan, our Junior Digital Executive, respectively. Much like everyone at Truly, these two work incredibly hard so these awards didn’t come as a surprise to any of us!

Aaron has almost been at Truly for 4 years and is entirely self-taught. When asked about his job, he said, ‘I enjoy the challenges of coding because the problem-solving aspect keeps me interested and the graphic design part is creative and gives me a lot of freedom.’ He later added how much he appreciates his colleagues and team, which brings us to Dan, who has learnt a lot from him. Aaron said that Dan ‘[…] takes things on really quickly and shows a really keen interest in both front and backend development.’ Anyone who works with Dan knows that if you ask him to do something, he’ll get on it. If he doesn’t know how to do something, he’s going to learn it. After starting in June 2022, his skills have improved astronomically and we can all see just how far he’s come. As a person who gets bored easily, Dan’s job keeps him interested and provides him with new challenges. Keep up the good work, guys – we’re grateful to have you!

That’s A Wrap

Well, that’s definitely a wrap on our Christmas party at least! Our team is currently busy working ahead of our well-deserved break until 2024. If you want to get in touch with us in the meantime, please feel free to fill out an online contact form and someone will be with you as soon as possible, but please remember that we’re closed from the 22nd of December to the 2nd of January.

Merry Christmas and a very happy new year from the Truly team!
